Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappé has stepped up to defend Barcelona’s teenage prodigy Lamine Yamal, calling for an end to the media’s obsession with the youngster’s personal life.
Speaking ahead of France’s World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan, the French captain urged journalists and fans alike to show restraint and let the Spanish sensation focus on his football.
“People talk a lot about his personal life. I think they should leave him alone,” Mbappé told Movistar. “In football, he’s already a great player — but in life, he’s still just an 18-year-old kid.”
The comments come after Yamal found himself at the center of several tabloid headlines in recent weeks, following reports about his rumored relationship with a 30-year-old influencer, Fati Vázquez, during the summer break.
While the young winger continues to dazzle on the pitch for both Barcelona and Spain, Mbappé’s remarks highlight the growing pressure modern football stars face off the field — especially teenage players thrust into global fame.
Yamal, already being hailed as one of Europe’s brightest attacking prospects, has drawn widespread praise for his maturity on the ball, but Mbappé’s plea is a reminder that behind the talent and trophies, he’s still learning to navigate life in the spotlight.
