Suggestion player looking to secure some sort of pay off from Leicester City

Besiktas are closing in on Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, despite the reported intervention of Real Betis

Earlier today we covered reports which stated the Black Eagles have agreements with both the player and the Foxes, but Real Betis’ last-minute interest in the Nigerian had delayed his move to Istanbul.

The Seville club are unlikely to have offered better terms, either to Leicester City or to the player and his camp, however, the attraction of a move to La Liga was the potential lever.

Despite that, Sports Digitale report the Super Lig club have made progress for the 28-year-old.

Journalist Sercan Dikme is quoted as saying: “Besiktas have made significant progress in the Ndidi transfer as of today. Ndidi is discussing his outstanding payments with Leicester. Once these issues are resolved, Besiktas will invite Ndidi to Istanbul.”

That would suggest the midfielder is looking to negotiate some sort of pay off from Leicester City before completing his move to Turkey.

Ndidi has been expected to leave in this transfer window following Leicester City’s relegation to the Championship. The 28-year-old has a contract with the Foxes which runs until 2027, having extended his stay with them around a year ago.
