Sunderland to offer €20m plus €2m in move for player – Agent trying to fetch clubs from Spain

On Thursday, Il Resto del Carlino reported on Bournemouth providing competition to Sunderland in the race for Bologna’s Jhon Lucumi.

The Cherries have previously had an offer rejected for the defender and there was belief that their name was being used to rush the Black Cats into another offer, considering how their initial bid was still on the table.

Quotidiano Sportivo today report on Sunderland’s upcoming second bid, after earlier claims their original offer was still on the table.

Regis Le Bris’ side are said to be ready to renew their attempt and come close to Bologna’s €25m asking price.

Sunderland’s next offer will be €20m plus €2m in bonuses but that will only be put forward if Lucumi makes it clear that he will accept a move to the Stadium of Light.

Interest from Bournemouth is teased once again but there is no indication that Andoni Iraola’s side will make a new offer any time soon.

So far, the 27-year-old has rejected Bologna’s attempts to hand him a new deal on better terms, as he explores his options this summer.

Everything suggests that Sunderland are in the driving seat, if reports are correct, unless Villarreal’s interest turns into a concrete approach, with Lucumi’s agent currently in Spain to attract offers from La Liga.
