How Sunderland plan to use incoming signing Armand Lauriente as medical date and contract length shared

Sunderland plan medical for Armand Lauriente

Sunderland have made an offer for Granit Xhaka, who is open to returning to the Premier League, TBR sources revealed.

Meanwhile, a deal for Armand Lauriente will be wrapped up this weekend. TBR Football’s chief transfer correspondent, Graeme Bailey, shared that it is a five-year deal, and he is due for his medical on Saturday.

Sunderland beat Serie A outfits Lazio and Fiorentina to Lauriente’s signature.

Bailey said: “It’s another case that club officials are delighted, they have worked hard on all their deals this summer and they are not finished.

“Their new director of football, Florent Ghisolfi, played his part in this one – he knew the deal that it would take and got it done.

“Sunderland see him as a winger, but one who can play either side and even through the middle.”

Meanwhile, Sky’s Keith Downie has reported that Sunderland, after already spending £95m, want to add ‘several’ more signings.

Armand Lauriente stats

Lauriente moved to Sassuolo from French side FC Lorient in 2022 for around £10m

The 26-year-old has notched 102 appearances in all competitions for the Serie B club, enjoying his most prolific season in 2024/25.

He scored 18 and assisted six in 33 league fixtures, largely operating off the left but also playing as a centre-forward on occasion.
