West Ham United pushing hard for Douglas Luiz, player wants Tottenham move

West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing 27-year-old Brazilian international Douglas Luiz from Juventus in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Douglas Luiz is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a holding midfielder in the summer transfer window. So, the 27-year-old Juventus flop is a target for the East London outfit.

The Hammers are “pushing hard” to sign the former Aston Villa midfielder in the summer transfer window. However, securing Luiz’s services will be a tall order for West Ham United, as the Juventus outcast prefers joining Tottenham Hotspur.

Douglas Luiz and his struggles

Douglas Luiz has hit a brick wall since joining Juventus from Aston Villa in a deal worth £42 million last summer. The 27-year-old midfielder has not produced any game-changing performances for the Bianconeri, and his stock has plummeted in only 12 months.

The Brazilian international has not even managed 1,000 minutes of game time across 27 outings thus far for Juventus. However, Luiz’s stock in the market remains high, particularly among Premier League clubs. West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Premier League return on the horizon?

West Ham United’s interest in Douglas Luiz is understandable. Carlos Soler has returned to Paris Saint-Germain after an underwhelming loan spell in the 2024/25 season, while Guido Rodriguez will likely depart from the London Stadium this summer. In addition, Tomas Soucek and James Ward-Prowse face an uncertain future at West Ham. So, Luiz is a viable target, with the Hammers “pushing hard” for his signature.

As for Tottenham, Yves Bissouma faces an uncertain future at the North London club, with Juventus among the clubs keen on signing the Malian midfielder. So, Tottenham will likely dip into the market for a holding midfielder, with Luiz an option worth considering.

The latest report has boosted Tottenham’s prospects, as the 27-year-old Brazilian international prefers joining the North London club instead of West Ham United. So, with Luiz keen on moving to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, West Ham may have to look elsewhere for a midfielder.
