TBR Football can exclusively confirm the latest developments around Sunderland’s loan swoop for Chelsea striker Marc Guiu.
Sunderland have enjoyed a fruitful summer on the transfer front, making seven signings so far, including Switzerland captain Granit Xhaka.
TBR Football confirmed earlier this week that Sunderland were one of the clubs in the picture for Guiu, who made a name for himself in last season’s Europa Conference League.
In addition, we revealed that Chelsea were happy to loan the Spaniard out to another Premier League club.
Now, Sunderland have moved quickly to land Guiu on loan, and TBR Football can confirm why this is such a coup for the Black Cats.

Sunderland beat other newly-promoted clubs to Marc Guiu loan signing
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey can confirm that Sunderland have agreed a straight loan move for Marc Guiu.
His medical will take place in the coming days before he joins the Black Cats for the duration of the 2025/26 campaign.
Guiu was also wanted by Leeds United and Burnley along with a number of Championship clubs including Ipswich Town.
“Sunderland have moved quickly to get Guiu once they had the green light from Chelsea and the player,” Bailey exclusively told TBR Football.
“They put their project to him and he has agreed to go, it’s another coup for Sunderland, there were a number of other clubs trying for him.”
What Sunderland fans can expect from Marc Guiu
Despite being just 19 years of age, a lot has already been said about Guiu from football figures and in-depth scouting outlets.
For instance, Goal.com described him in the summer of 2024 as a ‘strong, fast and direct; a physically gifted and ruthless No. 9.’
They continued: ‘This is not a link-up striker or false nine. Rather, Guiu is a potentially game-changing goal-scorer – something he showed in his Barca debut.’
